I’m late in getting this review since our trip was this past October 2018 (I forgot I had an account here). We traveled to Playa Azul on a week when the hotel was virtually empty because it was at the end of hurricane season, and the next week, the hotel was going to be full. We actually loved the fact that we had the place to ourselves!

Since we were one of one other couples occupying a room during our stay, instead of putting out the usual breakfast buffet, they were so lovely and let us order whatever we wanted. The last day of our visit.

I got a UTI, and the gentleman at the front desk went above and beyond to get me some meds and had them delivered to the hotel. Hours later, after feeling 100% better, I went to him, tears in my eyes and had to give him a hug for all he did for me. One of the guys there recommended me the cozumel trike tour we might try on our nex trip- We are going back this October and would highly recommend this place to anyone traveling to Cozumel.

The beach was amazing, with incredible views of the sunset. Staff was very attentive and brought us drinks immediately, and the beach chairs were very comfortable. I’d read a couple of previous reviews that complained about the “rocky beach area”. It’s not rocking, it’s coral, lol, which is what the whole island is made of. So don’t let that scare you away from this gem.

The breakfast, which was included, was beautiful every morning. The coffee was fresh, and the orange juice was freshly squeezed.

There is a recreational area next door that has zip lines and water sports. Unfortunately, this was only for cruise ship travelers. I was a little disappointed when I asked the front desk about the recreational area that they didn’t tell me it was only for cruise ship travelers. They had to have known. Also, there was no concierge desk to arrange for outings.

I would definitely stay here again! Don’t forget to check out the large tree in front of the hotel. There are dozens of turtles around the tree that you can feed. Just ask the kitchen for scrap fruit, and they’ll give you a bag full which the turtles come running for!!! It’s pretty comical.
